Samantha Eyerman, CTRS, Health Coach, RYT 200

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist,
Certified Health Coach,
Registered Yoga Teacher - 200 Hour

Samantha graduated from Eastern Michigan University in August, 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree, double majoring in Recreational Therapy and Psychology. She earned the designation Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) in October, 2014. In 2020 Samantha completed programs to become certified in yoga (through The Yoga Collective) and health coaching (though Institute for Integrative Nutrition).

Samantha has over ten years of experience treating adults and children in the community setting as well as inpatient and outpatient physical medicine & rehabilitation units; with focus on traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury diagnoses. For several years, Samantha provided mental health treatment to individuals & groups on an inpatient behavioral health unit where she also received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and led DBT Skills groups.

Like so many people, Samantha has her own history of childhood trauma and understands first-hand what it’s like to live with and overcome the lasting effects of such traumas. While none of us are responsible for the pain others have inflicted upon us, we are each responsible for our own healing (with support, of course).  Samantha maintains her own health & wellness through personal mental health therapy as well as participating in personal & professional development through activities such as yoga, spiritual retreats, and immersive professional trainings. As a lifelong learner with a thirst for knowledge, Samantha is always reading, researching, and adapting techniques and practices which support holistic health and trauma recovery; for personal and professional use.

In her early 30s Samantha was diagnosed with vertigo, ulcerative colitis, and Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism. She understands the challenges people living with chronic illness face in feeling good and living well. The back & forth of testing different diets, medications, and doctors all while trying to survive and thrive can be exhausting. Samantha brings this level of awareness and compassion to her individual & group sessions; listening with empathy and validating client's experiences.

Of all areas within holistic health, Samantha is most passionate about mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. One of Samantha’s greatest joys in life is being witness to others as they embrace their own power and live authentically. Western culture promotes a “mind over matter” approach, which is often invalidating and completely ignores the sensory information from our bodies. Samantha believes that we all truly know what’s best for ourselves, we just need to tune-back-in, trust our intuitions, and unlearn some cultural norms. This is why Samantha creates a safe space for her clients to “come back home to themselves,” and supports her clients while they identify the personal goals they want to address. Samantha then works with her clients to problem solve and provides related resources and education to support clients with their desired lifestyle changes.
